#AgricolturAMOdomio: 10 Photos That Tell the Story of Rural Italy

Agrofarma – Federchimica, together with Instagramers Italia, presents the best photos from the first Instagram challenge dedicated to agriculture. Rows of ripening grapes, farmers at work, and promising young farmers: these are some of the subjects featured in the 10 winning photos from the first Instagram challenge dedicated to agriculture, organized by Agrofarma—the National Association of Agrochemical Companies, part of Federchimica—together with the Instagramers Italia community. The social network, which allows anyone to tell stories and express themselves through images, hosted a major two-week competition in which community members documented Italy’s agricultural landscape. Through a single photo, accompanied by a brief caption and the hashtag #AgricolturAMOdomio (as well as #igersitalia), enthusiasts and aspiring photographers competed to convey their own vision of agriculture, along with the memories and emotions tied to this sector—both traditional and innovative. The adventure began on June 4 and, within just a few days, yielded a collection of over 1,000 photographs—a veritable album showcasing unique and subjective perspectives on the Italian agricultural world. From the Aosta Valley to Sicily, the photos feature vibrantly colored landscapes, crops in bloom, and ripe fruits, as well as the hands and faces of those who passionately work the land every day to bring out its best. At the end of the challenge, a jury composed of Agrofarma and Instagramers Italia selected the ten photographs that best captured the essence and spirit of life in the fields; the captions accompanying the images were also a key factor in the selection. The selected photographs, along with their creators, will be the focus of an exhibition organized by Agrofarma over the coming months as part of Expo 2015 in Milan.
