“Hostaria” was created to embody the traditional concept of hospitality associated with wine tasting. It evokes places of gathering, conviviality, fun, and freedom of expression.
The event began as a FESTIVAL celebrating Veronese wines during the special grape harvest season.
Through a tour of the city’s historic center, participants become active protagonists of the festival by choosing to “follow the route,” tasting the wines offered by the participating wineries and stopping at the large “hostarie” that showcase Verona’s culinary excellence, located along the festival route, and sampling the special menus offered by the restaurants and establishments participating in the project.
The project aims to involve all production areas in the province of Verona. Together, they can make a difference in the Italian and international tourism and wine scenes.
Hostaria: Wine Culture Is Making a Comeback.
The public may participate in the tasting event by proving they are of legal age with a valid ID and purchasing an admission ticket at the affordable price of 15 euros, which entitles them to 10 tastings. A 3-day festival pass is available for 30 euros. Each participant will receive a personal glass and glass holder, as well as a non-transferable wristband to prevent the glass from being given to unauthorized persons. The entire route will be monitored 24 hours a day by private security for the duration of the event.
When designing the route, we paid close attention to accessibility for people with disabilities; as a result, it has already been tested and endorsed by the editors of Dismappa, a news portal that is sensitive to the needs of people with mobility impairments who use wheelchairs.
A children’s area will be set up in Piazza delle Erbe, where our partners Rigoni di Asiago and Morato Pane will offer a free “natural” snack to all children, and the Rido Ridò Association will liven up the square with games from the Ludobus, turning it into a place of fun and relaxation for the little ones.
